Update - 13.06 17/02/2014 -Just received by hand delivery from the Thames Valley Police is this flood message as shown below.
Update - 17.30 13/02/2014 - Military personnel have been busy sand bagging entrances in Cookham High Street (hope they did ours too) whilst they strengthen the already established flood walls. (14/02/14 18.00 no sand bags applied to our door, just found out)
Update - 15.30 12/02/2014 - The Home Secretary Theresa May (MP for Maidenhead) visited Cookham Village floods today viewing the situation 1st hand.
Update - 18.30 09/02/2014 - Enviroment Agency issued by auto phone message 2nd Flood warning for Cookham Village/High Street (not looking good and with the water level marked 1.33 leaving only a further 0.13 before the river could over flow over the Flood Defence System.)
Update - 08.00 09/02/2014 - The water level on the Cookham lock upstream today at 06.00 reached the same maximum level that was recorded by this site during the January 2014 Cookham Flood Period. During the Morning of Saturday 07/02/14 we gained access to our retail shop and stock and equipment was raised by 1 Mtr or more and also moved to our 1st floor. We hope to gain access during the coming week for the purpose of monitoring and securing our retail shop and it's contents. The High Street is currently flood free and the flood defences are holding. The flood of 2003 gained a water level of 1.46 however even at this level the then newly created flood defences of Cookham Village withheld and Cookham Village escaped flooding. So the key factor here is to watch the level to 1.46 anything above this value, well thats anyones guess to what may or may not happen - written by IKeay with 35 years experience of the Cookhams and its High Street.
Update - 20.00 07/02/2014 - This data has just been released by the Enviroment Agency and can be seen on their web site for Cookham Village and area. This is more serious than the January flood where no warning like this was actually given. All roads into and out of Cookham are now Closed.
The river and flooding forecast is as follows: The River Thames in the Cookham area has risen in response to rainfall earlier in the week. Levels will continue to rise and property flooding is to be expected from tomorrow afternoon onwards. The current river forecast suggests that by the middle of next week the river in this area could reach a similar level to January 2003. The weather prospects are to expect a band of rain, heavy at times, later this evening and through tonight. Heavy showers are expected throughout the day tomorrow.
